#MXM2014 has come and gone. We had a hugely productive day of information, networking and discussion about the music business. At our Friday songwriter night, twelve local acts showed their wares at Five Bar and Tables, and on Saturday in The Bottleneck, the six acts in the Silly Goose collective played an incredible showcase.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping make MXM2014 the success that it was. All of our panelists, contributors, volunteers and partners gave so generously of their time all because they love local music – we’ve got some of the best around! Our sponsors supported this event because they know what how important live music is. The City of Lawrence even got onboard with a Community Arts Grant, showing the strong support that exists for music and the arts in this town. All of this came together around the great bands, musicians and songwriters that contribute to the local music community.
Thanks to our co-sponsors Five Bar & Tables, Ingredient Restaurants, KJHK, Ink Magazine and Mass Street Music. The program would not have been possible without the support of regional non-profit partners Midwest Music Foundation, Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts and InterUrban ArtHouse. MXM2014 was supported by a grant from the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission.
The show continues . . .
Stay tuned to http://www.sillygooserecords.org for the next steps in supporting live music, and be sure to like us on Facebook to connect with us in the future.
Let us hear from you!
We are also asking local bands and musicians to fill out a survey so that we can get more info about you and what needs exist within the local music community. The survey can be found here: https://sillygooserecords.wordpress.com/mxm2014-pre-workshop-survey/
Finally, more music!
This is our Silly Goose Records MIXtape2014, with a selection of our Silly Goose artists and some local friends too.
Download it, listen to it, love it!
Thanks and see you soon,
The Silly Goose Team
