With thanks to the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission and KU Small Business Development Center, we are excited to announce additional #MXM2016 workshops taking place on Tuesday May 31st in Lawrence Public Library and Thursday June 9th in Lawrence Arts Center.
These workshops will dig a little deeper into two key aspects of being an independent musician: making sure your money works for you, and getting your music out there! As usual, we have stellar partners from the music industry as well as regional non-profit organizations to help bring you the knowledge to get informed, get your best practices together and rock your music out into the world with a bang!
**Please note, these events are coming up very soon, due to a final round of grant funding from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, and with thanks to federal partners the National Endowment for the Arts.**
Did we mention both events are FREE? Mark the date and we look forward to having you join us soon!

How To Release A Record
Thurs June 9th | 6.30pm | Free — Lawrence Arts Center (main gallery)
Taking inspiration from the website howtoreleasearecord.com, (the creation of Lawrence native Zach Hangauer), Silly Goose Records’ Nick Carswell (Carswell & Hope, Pink Royal) will guide a discussion about some of the best, tried and tested, and innovative ways in which independent musicians and record labels are releasing music.
Covering a comprehensive overview of the technology, finances and other plans you’ll need to have in place, the workshop will address the many options that are available to help you identify the best path to get your music out there. With a panel discussion from key music industry professionals, you can expect a solid list of do’s and don’t’s in order to get your music out, and action steps to start planning, producing and launching your next release!
Presentation: Nick Carswell (Silly Goose Records)
Panel: Chris Haghirian (Ink Magazine, 909 The Bridge, Middle of the Map Fest), Jeff McCoy (High Dive Records), additional panelists TBA
