Now Accepting Submissions for Demo Dip at MXM2021!

One of our most popular MixMaster sessions, The Demo Dip returns (virtually via Zoom) on Wednesday September 15th, 4:30pm

Have you ever wondered what happens to all that music you’ve submitted to festival bookers, venues managers or radio stations once you’ve hit send or mailed your CD?

Well, at the Demo Dip, you get a chance to peel back the curtain and experience how the folks on the receiving end of your submissions sift through the tons of music submissions they receive.

When we have our Demo Dip in-person, musicians and bands would put their CDs in a box at the start of the session, and one-by-one, a disc was pulled out at random and the whole room (including a panel of industry experts) would listen to about a minute of the track.

For our 2021 virtual Demo Dip, the same principle applies. We are just asking for your demo submissions in advance. If selected, our panel will then offer feedback based on what they heard.

You may learn about some other successful artists that our panelists are reminded of, or perhaps a venue or audience that they feel could respond well to your sound. You may find out whether a radio DJ would play the track on their show, or if a promoter or talent buyer will be interested in hearing more or seeing a live show.

The Demo Dip is a fun and constructive process, focused on helping artists understand how their sound is perceived, and to share feedback on production, booking and future avenues to explore.

I’m in! Where do I submit?

Hold your horses there buddy. Read the tips below and scroll down for the link to submit via Dropbox.

Tips for Artists

Upload an mp3 or WAV file

We recommend mp3 (160Kbps or highter) or WAV file (44100Hz 16 bit stereo). Submit just one song, and make it your best one.

Make an impact!

60 seconds is not a very long time, so pick a song that gets to the point quickly! The Demo Dip is not a place to try to build a slow, long contemplative moody piece

Keep an open mind

This is an casual opportunity to hear and see how industry professional react to your music. Feedback will be offered in a positive and constructive way, so be sure to receive it that in that spirit. We’ll all have something to learn from it!
